Let's open with a Sanniang Moment of Hotness
And they totally took advantage of the Emperor being all fatuous (which is a word I'm adding to my vocabulary now) and superstitious over the Heavenly Mother thing. Sanniang let herself be discovered disguised as a guard when Hu broke free during the execution ceremony. She didn't let that happen until she changed the message that was to appear on the child after being misted by the fraud...the message change saved all their lives.
Meanwhile, Gexiao led Wuqiu on a merry chase, with members of the Leopard Gang disguised as Gexiao, joining in on the run and then peeling off to draw members of the Brocade Guard away, it was a slick move, and it ended up with Wuqiu getting literally caught in the trap
He's referring to Shifan, but that guy got played himself! But first it took Sanniang escaping the jail with Xiaomei and then getting the Emperor under their sway, courtesy of one of Xiaomei's acupuncture needles.
RIGHT!
Sanniang's mom using her superb lightness skill to stand on a thin wire and impersonate the Heavenly Mother...
...and a swarm of locusts thanks to Liang and Bingbing. So much awesome happens!! It all comes to a climax with Xiaomei doing his masked think as Yan Song got Shifan to declare that he wanted to be emperor where the actual Emperor heard it!! Yeah, that ruined the both of them!
All that's left for our villains is revenge on Gexiao! So, it's Wuqiu, Shifan and Song as criminals that are hunted, seeking revenge.
But now, Sanniang is facing a dilemma...exactly what is her and Gexiao's relationship?
The payoff to that final arc was everything I hoped it would be and more!! The last episode of the series should be a tieing up of the loose ends and hopefully a happy ending. It's odd to hear me say that, but if any series deserves to cop out and go with that kind of finale, it's this one. So damn good...
